thanks for all your comments I have decided it wasn't worth bothering with, but I am considering a:

2001 1.8L sport tourer with LPG conversion 54k miles

Instead to avoid the turbo issue completely, it has FSH and a recent cambelt change. It is an aftermarket LPG conversion though is there any particular issues caused by running these on LPG or anything else I need to look out for except for the wheel sensors.

I'm also keeping my eye on much lower mileage diesels circa 50K but they are the 1.9dci or 2.2 dci is the 2.2dic any better than the 1.9 for reliability turbos, cambelts etc?
