Re: Prospective espace mk4 buying looking for advice

The only irritation I have had the cam shaft dephaser needed replaced. I have my suspicions these components become susceptible after a cam-belt change. Fortunately the garage met most of the repair cost.
Another item that i will have to have looked at is the clutch pedal is sometimes not meeting resistance and I suspect the master cylinder, however, where on the MK3 it was an horrendous job of removing the dashboard, Renault seem to have adjusted their repair access so the cylinder can be refitted in about 1-2 hrs and is a separate component instead of a complete pipework kit as in the previous model.
The safety built into the car is extremely reassuring and certainly a major factor in my purchase choice. A friends wife went off the road in a new style Scenic in which all the airbags deployed - she along with three kids all came out unmarked - car did its job and the ambulance crew couldn't believe they walked away from it praising the cars airbag systems and design.
