The head bolts are numbered as follows...

8 4 1 5 9 (Gearbox end)

7 3 2 6 10

1st stage,Tighten them in order to 20Nm

2nd stage,Tighten them in order 100 degrees

3rd stage,Wait 3 minutes

4th stage,Slacken bolts 1 and 2 then retighten to 20Nm and 100 degrees.

Repeat stage 4 for bolts 3,4,5 and 6,then 7,8,9 and 10.

Hope that helps,it's a bit overly complicated to be honest, and I'm not sure how Renault came to the conclusion that it needed to be done like this, but thats what they recommend......

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
