Did you try sealing the base of the aerial? There are instructions on this forum of how to.
That sounds typical of damp in the sensor.
Difficult to diagnose because you can't see any damp in there.
Mine would be fine for days then one day it just wouldn't work, then it would be fine again. Very unreliable.
It was just over a year ago that I had this problem but since the aerial hole was sealed it has been great.
