Check the towing figures with the dealer - the 'official' Renault UK ones, not the rubbish that they publish in the manual. If the weights are okay, then you're at least legal.
As for towing ability, it probably depends on the flavour of the 1.9 dCi. These have ranged from less than 100 to 130bhp to date (though with chip tuning, they're good for 150+.)
The dCi 130 in my Laguna tows our 17 footer 4 berth like a dream. If you've never towed with a turbodiesel before, then you'll realise what they're really good at once you hook a big trailer onto the back. I'd say even the lower powered 1.9 dCi's should take most 2 berth's in their stride, but if it's one of the more powerful ones, then you'll hardly notice that you have the thing hanging off the back.
