Laguna 2 "No Fault Logged"

My wife's Laguna 2, almost 4 years old, started on 2 cylinders when hot and did not respond to the accelerator. The "Electronic Failt" warning light came on. I retried it at least 5 times with the same result.
About an hour later, it started and ran normally.
I took it to our nearest dealer, Roxby Motors in Warsash, Hants. They told me that as no fault had been logged, they could do nothing about it. They refused to consider contacting Renault to discover if this was a known fault. I find it hard to believe that Renault do not keep a database of these occurrences, so that they can be investigated and possibly included in future software updates, or is this wishful thinking?
Anyway, we have a car with 2 faults - one that causes the undriveability and one where the fault is not logged. Who knows where and when it will fail again, and allowing it to cool may not get it running. This is not the first pioneering fault we have discovered with this car!
