The problem in my scenic I, phase 2, 2000 petrol 1.4 95cv, was a broken plastic (in the inner front middle hedge of the fuel flap) that keeps the metal spring attacched to the fuel flap. The fix was to keep the spring in position with a wood piece (a segment of chinese chopsticks) that holds in two recess in the fuel flap, as shown in the photo.
