Re: biggest botch job

I have seen numerous bodges in my time such as flour in the gearbox and sawdust in differentials - keeps things quiet just long enough to get the car out of the door.

But the biggets bodge I ever did see was many years ago.
A carpenter arrived one day complaining his Morris 1100 was sitting kinda low on the rear end. I discovered where the subframe mounts bolted to the body totally rotted away - large holes in the boot, etc,.

He arrived back after a weekend and the car was sitting perfect. Flabbergasted I asked how he he fixed it. He gingerly opened the boot to reveal a really neat timber framework held together with bolts, screw, nails, etc, between the boot floor and the parcel shelf. He drove it for another 6 months.
He used to say the whole world was held together with 3 X one and a half inch timber. I had to admire his ingenuity though.
