You can and probably should get a spare key. If anything ever goes wrong with this one (and they're not exactly robust) then you're really stuck.
But ring round as many local-ish dealers as you can for quotes, as prices for keycards and programming seem to vary wildliy. You'll probably be parting with about 100 quid for the card, and then have programming on top. Sorry, but it ain't cheap
If you ever trade the car in at a Renault dealer, they'll insist on you having both keycards. If you haven't, then they'll knock the price of a new card off the trade in value of your car.
