The corner of the card pulls out, revealing the battery (for replacement) and a conventional blade key. You can use this to unlock a conventional lock on the passenger door that's hidden behind a cover on the rear section of the door handle.

The emergency key will only get you into the car. You need a working key card to start it.

Shop around a few dealers for the cost of a spare card and programming. Prices seem to vary.
