Generally the "service " light means there is a problem which should be attended to.

It can be something as minor as the car is due a service to a serious fault in the secondary restraint system or even brakes.

If resetting the service interval light doesn't help I suggest you have the ECU read for fault codes.

The broken wire under the seat could be for the seat belt system but usually an air-bag fault will show if this happens.
