I suffered complete brake fade on my first car - a Triumph Dolomite - during a minor road rage moment
The brake pedal decended into the carpet during a late brake move ........... not surprising really, considering the front brake pads had the surface area of a Custard Cream !
I had a Volvo 240 estate 2.3i GLT that did that, fine under normal braking, but the pedal turned to jelly under heavier braking.
We tried everything ... bleeding the system several times, pads, discs, servo, master cylinder the lot - even went to a so called Volvo ''specialist'' (huh!
One day, after nearly hitting someone who dashed across a zebra crossing (I never saw them til too late, they appeared from behind a bus), I went through the good old Haynes manual with a fine tooth comb - to find ....
that my Volvo had THREE bleed screws on the front wheels not one.
Hubby located the 3rd screw (he can't remember where it was now) and hey presto ... sorted!
