Re: locating vin numbers on Renault Laguna 1.9 dci estate 2003

usual location is on the top of one of the front suspension mounts. failing that there is (from 2001) a VIN stamp on the frame just under the skuttle panel.
look for a flap on the drivers side on the leading edge, just under the rubber seal, peel the rubber seal up and you should see a retangular flap, lift that and the VIN is stamped in the metal under it.

(i found this out when the Polish border guards were looking for it whilst sorting out the EU vehicle exit paperwork.)

re VIN Stickers:
for a while 96-97 they put the VIN sticker in the boot, in the wheel well on the drivers side. in post 2001 cars the sticker is or should be located on the base of the B-pillar. open drivers door and look at the bottom of the frame where the rear passenger door mounts on the mid pillar.(usually 1 or 2 non-removable stickers with chassis details and factory build specifications on them.) For these vehicles the chassis number was stamped into the front driver side strut mount.

[if you have to get the sticker replaced your not going to get much change out of 100 for a new factory issued replacement]
