Hi there.

Looking on , I can find no 1.1 Clio for the years prior (or after) yours - I find a 1.2 which has a timing belt kit available.

The only 1.1 I remember, was fitted to the 5 - 1108cc.

Unless your car has had an engine transplant, I think it may have been registered incorrectly, if its down on the V5 as a 1.1 (the dealer may have just rounded the exact engine capacity downwards), rather than up.

I would presume it has a belt, with a 5 year/72,000 mile service span & if applicable - change it.
