Residual values would be the one problem with the Laguna Coupe, I agree. The UK market is very harsh on all large French cars and you would likely find that it would retain about 35% of its value after three years, which is not much, nor as good as a BMW or an Audi.
But, it depends on how long you intend to keep your car. The Laguna Coupe looks stunning now and will look stunning in ten years in much the same way as a Peugeot 504 Coupe/Convertible (another elegant coupe version of a regular French saloon) does now. A BMW, for all its wonderful residuals, would be just another old, ropey BMW.
