I have to challenge your initial assumption.
When properly set up, a car will not pull to one side or the other. Whilst a steep camber on the road might cause a slight bias, typically to the left in this country, this should be almost impossible to detect on most roads, and certainly not on a motorway.

Again, even if the front wheel alignment is correct, one wheel against the other, the rear wheels are normally ignored, and hence the car can be driving down the road like a crab (with teh back end twisted sideways)
Similarly, if the rack is off to one side, the forces will not balance when the wheels are stright-ahead, and so you will have to pull to keep it straight. And when you corner, the tyres will be fighting each other, and hence you will get accelerated wear.
