Question stripped thread on hub

I would like some thoughts on the following.
Daughter leaves car 1.4 Clio (2004) at garage to change front brake pads. They inform her disks also required?. during removal of disks caliper/carrier top hub bolt comes out with threads (stripped). They carry out quick repair (larger bolt fitted). It now seems a new hub assy is reqd. What i would like to know is has any one else had problems with these bolts stripping threads or is it a case of bad workmanship due additional cost involved ie new hub/bearing/labour.

Thanks in advance
