Re: Renault Scenic 1/Megane 1 - Rear Axle Brace Corroded

Phew - this is useful info - I was under the car today finding places to put axle stands as part of the 'replacing the rear brake pads' job.

There is a rectangular beam running across the car that looked fine at the ends, but about 1/3rd of the way across was looking very corroded.
So far it has been called:
"Axle Support Beam"
"Rear Axle Brace"
"Bracing Bar"
"Strut / Stabiliser for the rear axle 91 5589"
I'm sure there are more, but that should be enough for google.

Can anyone summarise the job of taking off an old one of these and replacing it with a new one?
The proper name would help as well - the last one came from this pdf so would seem to be a good one.

As long as it lasts for the next 6 months or so I'll find out if it fails the MoT on it.
