2003 should be ok. As long as you look for the obvious when looking for a secondhand car and make sure the service history is complete.If buying from a dealer look to get at least 12mths warranty, if buying privately, consider buying an independant warranty. It won't cover everything but will help with a lot of big bills.
The service interval on the 1.5dci is every 12,000 miles or 1 yr.

All new 1.9dci engines ( from 2005) have 9,000 mile/12 month service intervals, so Renault obviously realised their mistake. Apparently the long intervals was due to customer demand for longer service intervals.
