I'm not sure if that's how it works, but I do understand your thinking.

A lot of this modern stuff is way over my head so I stand to be corrected but, I believe the ABS is totally separate, I don't think the potentiometer (PM) has anything to do with the control of the ABS system.

As far as I'm aware the rear PM works in conjunction with the PM on the front of the car, all they do is level the headlights, nothing else.

The wiring diagram I have for the ABS system doesn't show any connection to the PM. That said I can't find the PM on any wiring diagram for the car but we know it has one.

I think you should for the meantime treat the two circuits as being totally separate.

Have you followed the the ABS sensor wires to where they plug into the harness, maybe one of the plugs has come apart if the wire was stretched when you had the axle loose.
