Re: help on replacing clio sub-frame

hi, you need a few trolly jacks and axle stands to hold the chassis up.

do you have the haynes manual yet ? now a really-really good time to get one if you are new to fixing renaults.

get the chassis up on stands, put wheels under it to offer more protection if it falls off them. you need to undo the bolt on the steeriing rack and also the bottom engine moutn, then the bolts holding the subframe to the chassis and lower the subframe to the ground whilst unhooking any electrical wireing for ABS and steering. you may also have Power steering pipes/canbles connected as well as brake pipes to unhook.
it will take 2 people to remove and refit the subframe as its big and heavy.

once you have the haynes manual refer fully to that, it should give you all the info you need.

when you refit the subframe you need to get the bolts replaced and fully torqued up once the car is standing on its wheels (full load on the subframe will fully seat and bed the frame to the chassis otherwise it will creak and knock when cornering and the bolts will have to be retightened at that point)
