Minus 7c this morning, you must be joking

Anyone got any opinions on this please?
I went out last night and happened unusually, on noticing the outside air temperature which I thought "" said 2 degrees A little later I checked it again it now said 16 degrees, at this stage I'd convinced myself Id misread the 2 degrees and assumed it must have actually said 12 degrees.

This morning when I cranked up the car and this time with me deliberately looking at the outside air temperature this now said it was minus 7 C
Over a period of I guess, the next couple of miles, the outside air temperature apparently shot up from (minus 7 degrees) to a much more pleasant (+ 15 degrees C)
Anyone had any similar problems or ideas.
Currently in hondo's garage:
1.6 Valve-Matic SR. Red hot, toasty feet.
