Just a word of warning, BBB is not kidding when she says the carbon wash-out gets everywhere and stains everything.

And it stains EVERYTHING

If you're able to do the job on a patch of unwanted grass in the back garden, naked except for an NBC hazmat suit, then do so. And use the heaviest grade, nasty-chemical-resistant gloves you can reasonably afford, because standard marigolds and oil -change spec latex disposables are useless in the face of carb cleaner, they just melt away leaving your fingertips exposed.

Also the carbon stuff is like sticky crayon wax - at least, in december/january it is! - plastic tools simply won't cut it (literally). Sacrifice something tough and metallic. It's worth it, as the inlet pipe (and EGR housing) really do get clagged up something chronic. I imagine it's like putting a bike-style BHP restrictor in the airflow, may as well not have a turbo at all.
Currently in tahrey's garage:
Honda CG125, Scott Voltage MX5, dirt, lots of random bottles and tools, porktastic Clio III DCi, dodgy shelves...
