The way I see it with many manufacturers is ''specialist vehicles'', the MPV which the Espace was is such, a family vehicle with sliding doors, something akin to the old vw campers where families can go out together and have fun, be it camping or a day out. Next on my list comes the vehicles that cater for different needs, the kangoo a friend inherited was transprt for a wheel chair bound person the vehicle easily modified to transport a person in a chair. Aside from the specialist requirements, what a car is is just a car, personal transport or the uninspiring family transport of which every manufacturer makes them and choice usually comes down to cost.

For me, specialist is the way to go, tailor a design to specific needs.

When I was young, I used to admire the Renault 4 tl as a better looking alternative to the Citroen 2cv economy car, even more so when I encountered one chomping along above the snow line in the Alps, but strangely a 2cv acadiane is something I seek soon as a viable trans sahara vehicle on a budget if I cannot afford a vw t3 syncro
