If the brakes on your Laguna are the same as mine then there is no cable to connect the wear sensor to so don't worry about that. I just cut the cables off the pads when I replace mine.

Have you checked the handbrake switch that is operated by the handbrake lever These have been known to fail.
Currently in planmeca's garage:
Renault Laguna 1.8 16v x 2 and a lot of other things. could really do with a tidy up to be honest I'll do it tomorrow
