yes they are, but they look like they are actually part of the disc, dont worry, get a chisel or large flat edged screwdriver and hamer.
hit it on the side a few times and it should pop off. it might help if you sprayed some wd40 around the ring, inside and on the outer edges.
dont whack the flat face of the ring or try to lever it up as you may damage the magnetic surface, its glued to a very thin stainless steel ring, dont try to use a blade or screwdriver on the inner edge.
just keep tapping on the outer edge where it looks like where the ring meets the disc. it does look more like one peice but it isnt!
