TBH, cars sold in that price bracket aren't intended to be bought by people who are overly concerned by fuel consumption. They are predominantly leased as company vehicles, and as such will over a BIK tax saving which will be massive on a top-rate tax payer.

The performance has been developed so that the diesel user-chooser isn't made to feel like a second-class citizen compared to his colleague who selects the petrol option.

They won't be bought by takeaway proprietors sitting on a continuous supply of cooking oil .
