Re: Are Espaces as Unreliable as the reviews say?

Wotcha, I bought our Espace privately a couple of years ago and although it's petrol I can vouch for the general reliability of the rest of it so far (touch wood bearing in mind it's due a cam belt, service, mot etc).

The only nasty so far was the CPU in the steering lock failing but due to the age and low mileage Renault paid half the cost (without too much asking either, very pleasing customer service experience).

When buying it I, like you, was concerned after reading the horror stories but as others have mentioned a lot of people will be moved to write about their bad experiences but not the good. My conclusion was that it might be a it less reliable than certain other makes but it was the car that we wanted and suited our family needs so it was worth the risk. Maybe budgeting for a good after market warranty would be a good move!

Good luck,
