Ideally, you want a warranty which will cover as many items as possible, will cover consequential damage (wear & tear is also desireable), and will allow you as high a claim limit per claim as is possible.

You also want it to be suitable for the car (i.e. if there is a mileage & age limit for the car), that the car won't exceed this whilst the policy is in force. The labour rates are included & adequate, and that YOU have the choice where the repairs are carried out.

You also don't want to have to pay the garage upfront & claim it back, nor do you want the warranty company specifying how often the car needs serviced, as it may be different (i.e. more frequently) to what the manufacturer recommends.


Its a minefield out there.
