Do people still apply underbody protection and is it worth doing?
My last car was over 12 years old and was still ok ,bodywork looked 3 years old , but it was rotting from the inside out.
Sills v bad (covered by the original plastic body mouldings).
Rear chassis panels and sections were getting rotten,.2 -3 layers of flaking rust.
Wheelarches, the metal part were starting to bubble thruat the edges where the metal bends into a lip.
No aftermarket protection was ever applied, and it was reasonably looked after and garaged.
You might say , after 12 years, what u expect but.
Are things like waxoyl still being used for injection spray into body cavities?
That didnt sound right.
I mean products like waxoyl for spraying into box sections/sills on cars.
Im thinking as well of all those little components like brake pipe holders that seem to be very thin metal spot welded onto suspension bars etc..
Wheel arches , the bit that isnt protected by the plastic spray guard, the lip.
Is there nyway to prevent road crud collecting there?
Or is it just not worth it..Rely on the renault 12 year guarantee and get the bodywork thing done and stamped every year?
I suppose that means your locked into main dealer servicing and repairs as long as you keep the car.
Currently in coup's garage:
RM III coupe 1.5dci FVT,Audi TT Mk1 ,a bike and too much rubbish.
