Renault Laguna 1 - Fuel Tank Strap Location And Advise

The picture below shows the location of the two fuel tank straps on the Laguna 1's.These are a well known weak point, particularly on Phase 1 models,as they corrode and can break, leaving the fuel tank in a rather precarious position!.

One strap goes from front to back, the other goes from side to side(the strips are highlighted yellow). The picture is taken from underneath my Lag 1 Phase 2 model, and the straps on mine look to be much thick and stronger than the early type ones.

(The green dot in the picture is showing the inside face of the offside rear tyre to try and make the strap location a little clearer).

The straps are easy to change, and aren't too badly priced from Renault(available Genuine only,I'm afraid!).From memory, they around £15 each.....

If you own a Lag 1,then my advice is to check the straps regularly.

Hope you find this usefull.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
