I'm not defending the cost, just saying how the price breaks down.
The OP hasn't listed all the parts needed, he mentions a module needing coding, but I don't know if that's the existing one running with a new cable, or a new module as well (plus maybe even 2 cables)...
What is very often forgotten is that whilst the value of a car reduces, the running costs usually increase, just due to inflation, before taking into account parts failing.
This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
