It's definately worth a try.
If the garage has access to a Technical Data program or engine management book,the values expected of the switch are in there.They can then compare their resistance readings to the expected ones.If they can't find any data,I'll have a look today,and get back to you later.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
