Re: Passenger wiper flicks water over driver side

Hi there and welcome.

You have been informed correctly, the wipers are set-up & optimised for LHD markets, but as a cost-saving exercise the wipers (and motor) were not engineered for RHD. Renault was not alone in doing this; BMW with the 5 series, Peugeot with the 206 (ironically, built in Coventry), all had this oversight, which not only gives rise to the situation you describe, but also leaves the top corner directly in your field of view - unswept.

Strangely, whilst the law is very specific about headlights being appropriate for the market the car is bought & used in - there is no such regulation for wipers - an omission, which allows such 'slip-ups' to reach production.

Unfortunately, since no RHD wiper motor was ever created - the wipers cannot be swapped over. Nor can anything be attached to the passenger blade to divert the water, as it would still get forced into your field of vision by airflow.

What might work, would be fitting a smaller blade on the passenger side, coupled with a larger one on the driver's side - (if there is clearance), which would then mean that the swept water is forced more up the middle of the screen, as opposed to being swept up your side.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
