Laguna Rear Drum Brakes

Hi people,

Hope all is well. Come out of from the fringes of the forum and decided to ask you knowledgeable people for your opinions on my brakes.

Back ground to the issue is that my car does few miles every week, roughly 30 if lucky, and sits on the drive 5 / 6 days continuously out of the 7.

For a while, despite the handbrake working fine from what tests I can do whilst stationary, the rear drums seem to emit a slight rubbing / light grind noise when braking. This does disappear after driving for a while if I do the odd 15 mile trip out of the town but over night, or reasonable park up, the symptoms would reappear.

I have had the drums off, which are clean and in good shape( no lips or uneven wear, and gave most contact spots and the drum itself a rub / clean with brake cleaner and even greased up the few shoe rest points to see if it helped but soon after the first journey the noise is back. The shoes have plenty of friction material when measured but to me show some slight pitting, as you will see in the images. Is this the issue?

I have taken some snaps of both sets of shoes and a cylinder, from what you can see is there anything not right?

Got MOT in 4 weeks and half minded about changing everything now, pads and cylinders, but given my lack of mileage I know I will have trouble getting any new shoes bedded in in time which raises my concern over braking efficiency tests. Do they need doing to pass the MOT or will they pass as they are given that they seem to be effective when applying force when the handbrake is on.

With this being my first ever car with drums I am not 100% on the noises. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated?.

I look forward to your kind help, thank you in advance.
