just driving down the road and pulling on the handbrake should scrape off any rust on the inside of the drums.
I'd be more worried about the brake cylinders pistons seizing up which they are liable to do, if left long enough.
giving them a light tap with a hammer on a screwdriver placed on the end of each piston to free them up should be ok.
