Fix or Scrap
A friend is trying to get me to fix a clio. Its a 2004 1.2 8v with 150,000 miles and its on its second engine which allegedly has 70,000 miles on it.
It has been sitting since november, it was never looked after so inside is stinking there is rubbish everywhere, although the carpet might hoover, the seats, seat belts and steering wheel are mouldy with it sitting.
The bootlid is held in place with washing line string, so it may need a new latch.
The front brake disks look seized and would really need replacing, the tyres don't look great either and its all steel wheels which look a bit rusty.
The bonnet which is unusual for a clio is very rusty, i havent seen rust this bad since the austin metro there is actually holes around the front where the catch is, its beyond filler the bonnet needs replaced. The rest of the body is rust free, the red paint is faded but would polish up with some t cut.
The front wing is cracked, and the headlight is a bit scraped and foggy.
As for under the bonnet, the battery is dead and when i tried to jump start it it turned over ok but the fan belt quickly snapped due to a jammed alternator.
Im sorry i have no pictures of it but its the worst clio I've seen yet, the rust is odd for a 2004 car. Is the 8v engine any good.
More importantly is it worth trying to fix this car, what would a good 2004 8v be worth?
