You have 2 options to find this out;

  1. first method is to brim the tank & zero the trip recorder - when the light appears, re-fuel to MAX, and work out your miles per gallon (and from your handbook), you can determine how much fuel was in the tank when the light illuminated - it's a simple multiplication to work out the miles remaining.
  2. The second (riskier) method is to carry a gallon of petrol in the boot, when the light appears - zero the trip recorder, and drive as usual until you run out of fuel - you then know how many miles (based on that type of driving), you have left.
I would choose the first method, as you cannot control when you'll run out of fuel (crossing a junction, for instance).
