Question Re: Renault Laguna I - Engines - Gear selector problems - Top tip

That's great knowledge, unfortunately a bit late for my Mk1 1.6, 16v. Is there any advice on adjusting the rod after I disconnected it from "A"? I reconnected to the exact same position using the obvious marks left by the clip after replacing the clutch kit(release bearing shreds) was. However I than realized that it could have been in any gear when I initially disconnected it and that might make a difference wouldn't it? Anyhow I ended up taking it to the mechanic who says he found the right adjustment but it is still hard to get into gears( at times it gets all the gears but than u stop at a traffic light and it gets none( initially u would get 3rd instead of reverse). The mechanic wants to put a new gearbox in , but I am afraid is the linkage and I end up paying for all the work in vain. Any ideas? has this happen to anyone else?
Currently in argesean's garage:
1999Laguna RTE 1.6 16v(Now 217K miles and still going strong!!!);only some parts are left from the R5 as the R5 was donated since I worked overseas for a while.
