Does the alarm system look like a genuine Renault one...?

It sounds like the alarm is an aftermarket one that was fitted,and then the fobs for it have been discarded as it didn't work properly.The alarm has now been set by the battery being disconnected and you don't have any means of switching it off.

If this is the case,then the system will have to be disconnected and preferably removed altogether.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
