To the contrary, I used to be in charge of a haulage division of a distribution company. I know what roadworks cost us, but equally I know what bad driving, including speeding, can do.
With respect, I think you'd only be in a position to relate to my point of view having personally wasted around 200 hours of your life (on your own, rather than paid company time) queueing for the same set of roadworks on your daily commute over a period of several years.
In most cases, the speed limit is warranted and I will stick to it. Though I will not play 'pace car' and will happily move over for anyone who wants to go faster.
In the case of the Thelwall works, I have already explained why I exceeded the speed limit, and I still feel perfectly justified in having done so.
