Hello and welcome to the forum.
The dimmer switch has the varible resistor built into it.
I've just had a look at mine,and if you reach up behind the switch(a bit of a fiddle...),you should be able to remove the connector to it.Mine has a 2 pin connector with 3 blue wires running into it.If you pull the connector off and arc accross the terminals,the dashlights should illuminate(with the lights on).If they do,then it's the switch(I'm not sure how the switch comes out,but if you need help I'll try and remove mine and get back to you).If they don't work,then theres either a fuse blown or a wiring fault somewhere.
