When you changed your pads what exactly did you do ie did you open the nipple and when blending what method did you use. Have you checked the nipples to ensure one of them is not weeping?

What you can try is if you put a pair of vice grips on the front flexibles and try the pedal if there is a leak at calipar the pedal should be hard then you will know where to focus your attention.

I bled the brakes with the engine off and the peddle was firm. As soon as i started the engine the brake peddle went soft. I tried bleeding the brakes with the engine running but the peddle remained soft. Any opinions welcome.
