Fuel gauge telling lies? Megane Coupe III - 59 plate.
Renault Megane Coupe III - 59 plate.
I average 50mpg becuase my journey to work is quite rural with little traffic.
If for instnace I put £20 of petrol in and as I pull away from the petrol station the car says I have a range of 200 miles by time i've traveled the 10 miles to work, pull up in the car park and check the range guage it will say i've got 175 miles left. Then after work I get back in my car start the engine and check the guage again and it will report that i've now only got 165 mile .. meaning i've lost 10 miles while it's been sat stationary. Now throughout all this my average MPG stays between 49 and 50 +/- 0.5.
My question is, why, even though I maintain a steady average MPG (i reset it at each fill up so it's not an average of when I first got the car) does the range readout change so dramatically and lose miles while it's been sat stationary for hours.
Any light that could be shed would be appreaciated and stop me being annoyed at the car.
