Sounds like the inner bearing race may be seized on the stub axle. If so then the bearing is probably knackered. You could try gentle heat but any significant heat will damage the bearing.

A simple hub puller would help as it would apply force equally.

To change the rear bearing it needs to be pressed out and back in again but comes with the risk of it being damaged in the process so most people just buy a disc complete with bearing.
