Thanks very much for that advice.

I've just spoken to my local Renault dealer and I'm pleased to report that the price is actually 98 for my vehicle. The person who quoted me 130 was giving me the worst case scenario figure. Still a lot of money but c'est la vie.

Also the guy I spoke to was kind enough to offer to get me the code for my tape/cd system in the car for free, that saves 10 too (I don't need it yet, but I would if the battery went flat etc).

Word of advice for anyone considering buying a second hand key from auction websites or anywhere else to reduce the cost. The Renault Parts guy I spoke to said that Renault categorically would not touch these with a barge pole. Second hand keys cannot be re-programmed to another car, so the best you can do with it is open the door (once you have had a new blade cut to replace the existing one in the fob = 6 in your local key cut shop). AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Thank you.
