I fell across this (older?) thread trying to get some basic information on Micro-V belt replacement procedure on a F4P RT 1998 Laguna. Realising how inaccessible it seems to be, I was trying to decide if I (skint as usual after retax!) must replace the cambelt, de-phaser pully and other components when my forum browsing brought me here.

This may be a crazy question but, in older vehicles does this complex, trouble-prone (de-Phaser) device really have a positive effect? Is there no passive (solid) replacement from after-market or even Renault?

I am still trying to find the basic procedure for replacing the micro-V belt, mostly what options there are to access the space, so will plod on researching.
