I haven't looked under my dashboard for a while, so can't remember seeing a yellow switch, so i will when I get a chance.
The switches I'm referring to are grey plastic with a plastic pin that projects from them. This pin is ratcheted and if you pull it firmly it will pull out, but not all the way out. When the pedal is moved in and out, these pins are pushed into correct position on each switch.

There is a similar arrangement for the brake pedal, located in the passenger footwell.
