Renault UK have reduced the model range.
Its gone even tighter here in Ireland altho theoretically some of the models like laguna are still available here.
Megane III's there is now only a 1.5dci 90 bhp version available (right now) in Ireland.
The "good news " is there is now 0% finance available on it cos its an anniversary of renault finance.
Gimme a break..why would anyone loan money for no return.
The front end list price is bumped up to give finance their profit+ commision to the sellers/dealers.
This means u take it up the fundament.
Finance they allways calculate from a list price at the dealers.
In practical terms for my car .
1 year ago its list price was 22k euro, now its 22.5
Uk equivalent about 18.5k sterling.
I year ago there were all sorts of cash deals available and scrappage.
In essence I had a car worth 1000(easily cos I knew how good it was ) but market value say 700.
Then add in selling costs .. maybe 500
Ok so there was a scrappage scheme which weel say gave me 1000 free money..
The way it is now
My last years car is 22500(you can factor this in to UK base list price of £18500)
If I went down to my renault dealer and said I have 20k euro cash Id get my pretty much the same car as I got last year, for 20k.
The thing is I got my car last year new for 15,500 euro.
Ok the scrappage bit, renault or the dealer got 1500 euro.
The cars omv would have boosted my cash by about 500 euro.
Forget about the scrappage n so on .. they got 1500 cash.. .
I paid 15,500 cash.. thats 17000 euro with "scrappage"
Right now today
with no trade in, If I wandered in to try and buy my car new with 17k euro, and its list price at 22.5, my chances would be 0.
yet car dealers in Ireland are moaning that new car sales are down ..
