Electronic Handbrake / parking brake Cable Solution
I came on here when the electronic handbrake on my Renault Grand Scenic II started playing up i.e. sticking on. After reading the sticky 'how to strip electronic Renault handbrake' I was able to identify the offside (drivers side) handbrake outer cable had broken next to the rubber grommet (midway along it) and was causing the cable to stick after the brake had been applied. Renault (Godbless them) quoted £460+VAT for the unit, plus another £95+Vat to reprogramme the
if I fitted it myself.
Well, to cut a long story short, I followed up another post on here (thanks whoever!) and contacted Tony Coates at Cablecraft in Dublin and sent them the broken cable. They removed the ends and replaced the inner and outer cable before sending it back to me. Once recieved, they had the cable back by courier in 3 days and charged 90 Euros (@£75 inc shipping).
Apologies to the moderators on here if this breaks any rules but having had the shock of finding out my handbrake was going to cost close to £700 to repair I have managed to repair it myself with new pads for under £100.
Thanks to those that went to the trouble of posting their knowledge, I hope this goes a little way to repay you/the forum!
ps. I also contacted Speedy Cables in Swansea who also offers a similar service. I had already sent mine to Cablecraft when they got back to me.
